I wrote an article about the dangers in the hilly section of Rt. 16 between Hillsboro and Litchfield Illinois just East of the WSMI radio station last year too. Living in this area, I unfortunately get to witness the aftermath of these accidents.
One man for sure is in critical condition in this wreck which happened about 20-30 minutes ago. A grey minivan smashed straight on into a green Jeep Cherokee. This is about a half a block from where I live. I always worry about people pulling out of our driveway.
I got close enough to take clear pics of the heaping carnage with my cell phone before the rescuers got there. But this is as close as I could get with a camera after they arrived. I’m not sure if I will post the other pics yet. I snapped the pics so fast and I don’t know how graphic they are because I couldn’t make myself really look as I was taking them.
After yesterdays school bus accident on I-55 near Litchfield, I don’t enjoy posting this kind of news at all, but maybe it will make people think twice when driving through these hills and save a life.
UPDATE: Arthur L. Maguire, 51 from Hillsboro IL. was killed in this tragic accident. There is a rumor floating around that Arthur was experiencing a heart attack which caused the accident, but I have not confirmed this.
